LESSON 1: Composition Drawing
Here are a few takeaways from this class:
Sketching
For our sketch, start with your rule of thirds grid, continue with loose simplified outlines, and finish by detailing the sketch with your color pencils (representing the different elements in the composition with different colors; e.g. trees with green pencil, rocks with brown and black pencil, snow with blue and grey pencils, etc.).
As I mention during class, our sketch is meant to be loose and more of a guidance for our painting, rather than a beautifully finished drawing. We will be painting over it anyways! We want to focus on getting the right perspective and general shapes of our landscape features right and leave the fine detail for our painting process.
