This private commission for a very special collector marks a departure from my usual landscape work, which is often absent of human presence. Here, the oil tankers anchored in Burrard Inlet become quiet monuments within an unmistakably Vancouver scene. Bathed in warm, atmospheric light as rain drifts across the distant mountains, the vessels embody a rare moment of stillness—where industry and nature coexist in unexpected harmony. The painting explores the beauty found in these in-between moments, transforming a familiar working harbour into something contemplative and timeless.
